He uses his music contacts each year to put on a weekend festival in aid of charity, and for the last two years he has chosen to support Blue Skies Hospitals Fund.

Mark, who works in Stores at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, said: “With me working at the hospital, I decided last year to raise money for its charity and picked the Neo-natal Unit as beneficiary. I’ve known a few people who have had to use the Unit, so I know how good a cause it is.

“The Gig Guide started off as a hobby eight years ago to let everybody know through Facebook what great local bands we have in Blackpool, and where they are playing. Over the years the bands have become good friends of mine and we decided start these charity concerts.

“I hope people do come along to support this festival because we have got some great bands which have come together for a great cause.”

Mark, 51 of South Shore, Blackpool, is being supported by Dave Harrop Productions which is providing sound for the festival and Craig Atkins who is supplying the drum kit.

He added: “I really hope the public, especially those who work at the hospital, come to enjoy a weekend of good local music while supporting a good cause. I raised £1,500 last year, and really hope we can beat that this year.”

Entry is £3, payable on the door. For more information email [email protected].
