Peter Ainsworth, 61, is about to pass the milestone at Morans The Jewellers next month.

Peter, who trained with Prestons of Bolton and Watches of Switzerland, joined the family firm in Red Bank Road in 1976 as manager.

It was then owned by the late John and Edwina Moran.

They founded the business in 1953 and it has since become a Blackpool landmark.

Peter said little had changed at the shop and it was well known in the area for watch repairs undertaken on the premises plus expert valuations and a full jewellery repair and restoration service.

Peter is also known as a piano entertainer in Blackpool and has recorded two Cds of piano music over the past 12 years with all proceeds being donated to the NSPCC.

Peter said the CDs have raised thousands of pounds for abused children and are still selling well in his Red Bank Road jewellers shop

Peter also worked at Royles Brook Primary School in Thornton as a volunteer for many years helping to produce the annual summer shows; now teaches piano and singing privately in the evenings and still does the occasional performance.

Peter said: “I cannot believe it has been 40 years, the time has flown and I have seen many changes but will always continue to trade in the same style; despite various modern trends and technology people still enjoy the friendly approach together with traditional service and attention to detail “

Music has been my life in so many ways and I really enjoy teaching and passing on my experience to young people; my charity work for the NSPCC is extremely important to me and I am so proud that my piano albums have raised thousands of pounds for abused and vulnerable children. I strongly believe that it is the duty of all of us to report or challenge child abuse when we see or suspect it “

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my customers for their support and loyalty over the last 40 years and I hope to be here for a few more years to carry on the tradition “
