Organisers are warning of low numbers of tickets remaining generally for this year’s week-long Festival, which starts on Monday and is set to bring thousands of visitors flocking to town.

Day tickets to see Canadian rock legend Adams sold out more than 10 days ahead of his performance on Saturday, August 6, with the only chance of now seeing him on the Lytham Green main stage one of just a few remaining tickets covering the entire weekend.

As the Express went to press, fewer than 200 tickets remained for West End Proms evening on Sunday, August 7, while tickets levels were also running low for Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds on August 4 and the Mix Tape show the following evening featuring The Village People, Bay City Rollers, Sister Sledge, late replacements for the Earth Wind and Fire Experience, and many more.

Tickets still remain for some of the Festival’s record number of fringe events at venues across the town.

Tickets are also available for a picnic cinema at Lytham Hall next Monday and Tuesday and the UK’s largest ever outdoor screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the main Green arena – but Festival director Peter Taylor is urging people to grab remaining tickets now to avoid being disappointed.

“We have never seen demand like it before for Lytham Festival,” he said.

“We have seven days of live music and events taking place over seven stages and it would appear that this year’s performers are all incredibly popular.

“I can honestly say this is our best-selling Lytham Festival to date and we are looking forward to a fantastic but incredibly busy week.

“The crowds are going to be absolutely phenomenal at all our live music events in the Main Proms Arena on Lytham Green and with so many other events taking place throughout the town it is going to be one amazing festival.”

The Festival is set to generate millions of pounds for the Fylde economy and comes in the middle of a golden period for local tourism, as it is flanked by the St Annes Kite and Music Festival, being held this weekend and expected to, and the 1940s Festival, being held in Lytham on August 13 and 14.

Both events are expected to also attract thousands of visitors to the area and Coun Cheryl Little, chairman of Fylde Council’s tourism and leisure committee, said: “This really is a glorious period for us which illustrates the very best that Fylde has to offer.

“We are looking forward to welcoming visitors galore to Lytham Festival and all credit to the organisers, as is also the case with the Kite Festival and the 1940s weekend for the way they have grown so quickly.

“People all over the region and much further afield are really talking about our area as the place to be for such events and top-rated performers really want to come and be part of the glittering array of events here.

“There really is something for everybody at Lytham Festival and it is wonderful to hear that ticket sales have been going so well.”

Venues for the more intimate performances taking place across Lytham during the Festival include the Lowther Pavilion stage, where performers next week will include comedian Nina Conti, country music duo The Shires and X Factor winner Matt Cardle.

Stage Too, in Victory Hall on Church Road will offer some of the UK’s freshest talent, the Church Stage, at St Cuthbert’s Church classical music and the World Jazz Stage at the Assembly Rooms an array of genres with competition.

Musical comedy double act Ferris and Milnes have switched from the Church Stage to join the line-up for the West End Proms evening which will bring the curtain down on the Festival on August 7.

Dominic Ferris and Martin Milnes, who offer an eclectic and packed musical programme including Broadway and Hollywood favourites plus pop classics, said: “We’re delighted to be moving our performance to an even bigger venue to allow more people the chance to see the show.

“The line-up for West End Proms is incredible and we’re looking forward to opening the show.”
