Cups were raised at a monthly get together of the Friends of the Grand Theatre, in Blackpool.
The Friends hold a coffee morning the third Thursday of each month, at the new Space, part of the recent redevelopment at The Grand.
The events are open not just to members of the group, but to everybody.
Coffee and cakes at 10.30am are followed by a talk, usually on some aspect of entertainment.
The speaker at the most recent coffee morning – which was attended by around 60 people – was Mike Fountain, who was chauffeur to Eric Morecambe. He spoke about his early career and explained how he got involved with working for the famous comedy star.
Details of future talks can be found at www.blackpoolgrand.co.uk and tickets can be booked at the box-office (01253) 290190.
February’s coffee morning will take place on Thursday, at 10.30am. The speaker will be Norman Nuttall, who will talk about growing up in the 40s.
