SLIDESHOW: Rose queens are on the march!

Community spirit was alive and well as Freckleton residents came together to celebrate their annual Club Day.

The traditional religious procession of witness around the village on Saturday signalled the start, featuring Holy Trinity CE, Freckleton Methodist and Holy Family RC Church representatives, followed by Scouts and Guides.

Freckleton Church of England Primary School pupils participat​ed in the CE procession, Strike Lane Primary School pupils were involved in the Methodist Church section, and youngsters from Holy Family School were also present.

The procession set off from near the Plough Hotel, and then headed along Lytham Road, Derwent Drive, Ribble Avenue, Bush Lane, Croft Butts and Preston Old Road to Marsh Gates and then returned along Preston Old Road and School Lane to the CE School for the crowning ceremony.

Organiser Stan Thompson said the children’s sports programme had to be cancelled owing to the rain, but it was otherwise a successful and enjoyable club day.

Yesterday also saw the village’s famous half marathon.
