Soprano takes on new role
Lytham-based soprano Nicola Howard has been appointed as new president of Lytham St Annes Choral Society.
Her new role was announced by chairman Valerie Hughes following the Society’s spring concert at Kirkham Grammar School.
She has taken on the job in succession to her tutor and friend Barbara Robotham, who died in 2013.
After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music, Nicola became a soprano of international repute and a music tutor.
She is a popular soloist with the choir having performed with it more often than any other soloist throughout its 107-year existence.
After taking office, she was presented a silver brooch in the form of a treble clef by Eric Waite, widower of the former president.
Next performance by the choir will be in November and will include a collection of arrangements of seven popular spirituals ending with When The Saints Go Marching In.
