St Annes mayor staying on for second year

“It is a real privilege to be asked to stay on,” she said. “I am really proud of St Annes and look forward to another year of wonderful events.”

Coun Henshaw, who was unavailable for several engagements earlier this year because of illness, will start her second year as town mayor on May 22.

She will be the second mayor in the 13-year history of St Annes Town Council to serve a second year, following Coun Tony Ford at the turn of the last decade.

She already has big plans for the coming months – including recognising more of the town’s long-serving businesses.

A long-service awards scheme she introduced last year has already seen 22 certificates handed out and more are already planned.

She said: “I’m delighted to give these businesses the recognition they deserve. It is great for the town that we have so many so well established.”

Meanwhile, she is planning a suffragette-themed afternoon tea, on a date to be announced, and a children’s golf tournament at the town’s Mini-Links course to tie in with the Ricoh British Women’s Open at Royal Lytham and St Annes in early August.
