GET set for an historic – and highly lucrative – Proms weekend as Lytham’s biggest-ever entertainment extravaganza takes to the stage.
Thousands of visitors will flock into town for an unprecedented feast of music over three nights as superstars Status Quo, Katherine Jenkins and Boyzone perform on Lytham Green from tomorrow (Friday, August 5).
It will mean a bumper weekend for hotels, restaurants and traders right across the Fylde and national and international exposure for Lytham as a top-class entertainment venue.
And it points to a super double whammy for the local economy as the Proms comes less than a year before the area stages the world’s biggest golf tournament, the Open Championship, at Royal Lytham and St Annes.
Fylde Council leader Coun David Eaves said: “This will be a tremendous weekend for Fylde – a great boost for residents and the local economy.
“The three days themselves are welcome enough, but such top stars coming to Lytham for a major event such as this leaves a lasting legacy in terms of reputation.
“We already have the Open Golf to look forward to and such major stars coming to town can only help extend the high regard in which the Fylde is held.”
