Fylde has certainly got plenty of young talent, according to the producers of this year’s Lowther Pavilion pantomime.

The high standard of more than 40 hopefuls, aged between eight and 18, left officials from Polka Dot Productions with a tough task when it came to choosing junior chorus members for Aladdin, to be staged in Lytham in December.

Polka Dot is producing the Lowther panto for the first time, and director Tom Morris was among those present at the open auditions.

He said: “The talent and enthusiasm the children showed throughout the audition proved the Lytham area has lots of talent, and the children were a real credit to their community.

“We were overwhelmed by the standard, and this made it really hard for us to choose the final 24.

“However, we got there in the end and are really looking forward to producing Aladdin at Lowther Pavilion this Christmas.”

The youngsters will be split into three teams of eight and start rehearsals in the autumn. Main cast members are expected to be announced soon for what Polka Dot claim will be Lytham’s most spectacular pantomime yet.

Lowther manager Mark Alexander added: “It was good to see all the youngsters at the open auditions, and we are all really looking forward to the panto.”

Aladdin will run for 30 performances from December 11 to 30, and ticket details are available from the Lowther box office on (01253) 794221.
