The Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10K Fun Run takes place each May, raising much-needed money for the Trinity Hospice.

Beaverbrooks former chairman, the late Andrew Brown MBE, was part of the committee which founded the first Blackpool Fun Run in 1983, and the jewellers has been actively involved ever since, sponsoring the event since 1995. In that time, millions has been raised for the hospice, with a total of £639,454 raised in the past decade.

A spokesman for Trinity Hospicer said “It’s a truly incredible amount which is enough to run Trinity’s night-time service, Hospice at Home, as well as provide some day-time care in people’s homes and care homes, helping to support people as they reach the end of their lives wherever they chose to be.”

In 2007 Andrew Brown was awarded an MBE for his services to charity for his involvement with the Fun Run from Prince Charles - now the King - who commented that he “must be tired after all those fun runs”.

As one of the main beneficiary charities, Trinity Hospice took over the organisation of the event ahead of the 2013 Fun Run, but has always maintained the original idea that runners can raise sponsorship for a charity of their choosing.

Virtual 10ks

Teams from Beaverbrooks have been involved in the Blackpool 10k Fun Run since its inception, and even today, colleagues from across the country are encouraged to take part in a virtual 10k. As well as sponsoring the event over the years, Beaverbrooks colleagues join together at the event to either take part or volunteer as event marshals to help ensure the smooth running of the Fun Run and, importantly, accurate results for runners.
