More than 100 parents attended the first in the new Lytham Speaker series of talks at AKS school, St Annes designed to provide advice to help youngsters cope with stress.
It was given by clinical child and adolescent psychologist Dr Jo Elliott and the next in the series will follow on Thursday, June 14, when Ian Williamson, author of ‘We need to talk – a straight-talking guide to raising resilient teens’ will be the speaker.
Organisers’ spokesman Alex Brown said: “We were delighted with the attendance at the first talk. The series is a new community-based initiative aimed at educating parents about common child development and well-being issues facing young people today. It also covers parenting challenges and in future years may expand to cover other areas of interest for parents.
“The sessions challenge current thinking, bring different perspectives and practical advice by providing a forum for speakers to share their expertise with parents.”
