FREE: MYA National Championships, Fleetwood, Saturday and Sunday July 9 and 10

Boat enthusiasts can come along and watch as The National Championship for the Dragon Force 65 remote control yacht welcomes competitors from all over the UK, as well as Denmark and Sweden, to the race.

The event, held at Fleetwood Model Yacht Lake, Laidley’s Walk, is free for spectators. Open 10am until 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

PAID: Preesall and Knott End Gala, Saturday July 9

The procession will start at noon at the Esplanade and head to Lancaster Road playing field for an afternoon of fun.

Activities include Cubbins fun fair, visiting and current gala queens, Blackpool Steam, a cowboy shoot-out and musical acts.

Visitors will also notice scarecrows around the village, with this year’s theme being TV.

Entry to the fields is £2, whilst children are free.

PAID: Outdoor Theatre at Lytham Hall, Sunday July 10

Ruddigore by Gilbert & Sullivan, a spoof of haunted-house stories performed by a reduced cast and accompanied by a musical director on keyboard, will be shown at 6.30pm.

PAID: Goosnargh and Longridge Agricultural Show, Saturday July 8

The Showfield, in Lower Lane, will be open from 9am until 5pm, with judging of various animals, including dogs, horses, sheep and cattle, plus vintage vehicles, children’s rides, fun and games. Early bird tickets are £6, with entry on the day £8. Children under 12 are free, with youngsters aged over 12 costing £3 or £4 on the day. Children’s wristbands available for £2 which allows free entry to rides.

FREE: St Annes Carnival, Saturday and Sunday July 9 and 10

With the theme of A Celebration of Gardens, the weekend starts with the parade through the streets of St Annes at 10.30am on Saturday, followed by the crowning of the Carnival Queen will at 1pm and entertainment at Ashton Gardens until 6pm. Sunday will be a family fun day, from 10am until 4pm, with the best dressed dog competition, tug-of-war competition, children’s races and entertainment.

Emmerdale actors Danny Miller and Jeff Hordley will make an appearance during the three-day event. The main celebration is the crowning of the Gala queen on Saturday following the procession from noon. There will be plenty of fun at Jubilee Playing Field afterwards, including stunts of motorcycling group Broke FMX.

Friday night sees bingo, from 7.30pm, whilst on Sunday there is a dog exhibition, plus a baby show. And if that was not enough, Black Rock llamas will be showing off their skills, with agility racing and jumping.

Entry is £4 for adults, £1 for children and under fives are free.

FREE: Music on the Park, Thornton Cleveleys, Sunday July 10

Families are invited to bring a picnic and refreshments to Hawthorne Park, in Thornton, from 2.30pm until 4.15pm, where there is plenty of music, fun and games.

Entry to the event is free, but there will be a collection for the upkeep and maintenance of the park, which is located off Hawthorne Road.

Donations will be most welcome.

PAID: Garstang Autojumble, Sunday July 10

Car and motorbike enthusiasts are invited to assemble at Hamilton House, off the A6, in Garstang, for a social meet and one-stop-shop for all the parts and gear needed for vehicles. Hobbyists will also fine vintage memorabilia, tools, manuals, barn finds and old and new vehicles.

Entry, from 9am until 1pm, is £3.50, with under 14s free.

Parking is free and refreshments are available.

PAID: Festival Bowland: Summer Activity Day, Sunday July 10

Children aged four and above are invited to a day packed with activities and fun at Beacon Fell Country Park, in Goosnargh.

Youngsters must be accompanied by an adult.

Families can turn up on the day and take part in activities and nature trails, from 11am until 3pm. A cafe is also on-site for refreshments.

PAID: Newton, Salwick and Clifton Field Day, Saturday July 9

The annual events starts with a parade from Newton Bluecoat C of E School, in School Lane, at 1.30pm, followed by the crowning of the Rose Queen on the school field at 2.30pm.

The afternoon holds a variety of activities, including Punch and Judy, stalls, fairground, donkeys and races.

Everyone is invited to join in the fun, Entry to the field is £1 for adults, with under 16s free.
