Major Blackpool roadworks get new start date
The firm was due to begin digging on Amy Johnson Way earlier this week.
But it will now be Monday March 27 at the earliest when work begins.

Hide AdAnd the company is still in discussions to avoid blocking already congested roads on Blackpool Business Park, which is already gridlocked at certain times of day.
The firm made clear plans were still in a state of flux.
A spokesman said: “We keep a close eye on the traffic management of our projects and will make any necessary alterations in order to minimise disruption, including changing planned locations of our works, as has happened during this project.
“The planned work at Squires Gate Industrial Estate is now due to start on March 27.
“On that date work will commence at the junction of Squires Gate Lane and St Anne’s Road.
“This work should be complete by April 24.

Hide Ad“Our new water pipes will be pushed through using this excavation point and will not involve us digging up the busy crossing.
“There will be a diversion in place for buses and HGV vehicles as access into St Annes Road from Squires Gate Lane will not be possible.
“Blackpool Transport is aware of the bus restriction and have made arrangements to follow the diversion.
“Work on the industrial estate will involve an excavation chamber located outside the Citroen Car dealership.

Hide Ad“This section of road is currently planned to be managed by a temporary traffic light system, however, discussions are ongoing to try to move this chamber so that it’s not located in the carriageway and therefore will not need temporary traffic lights.”
