Transport festival draws in the crowds

Officially known as the Fleetwood Festival of Transport, the day is one of the oldest and biggest free family days out in the North West of England and usually brings between one and two million pounds a year into the town.

This year there were more than 200 different vehicles on display in Lord Street, from stream trucks and fire engines to vintage cars and bicycles, and crowds were also drawn in by a range of stalls and a parade.

Blackpool Transport put heritage trams back on the tracks for the day.

Alongside the transport attractions was the SpareParts arts festival, based at the Marine Hall.

Organised by LeftCoast and Wyre Council, SpareParts saw different performers appearing across the town.

Circus company Extraordinary Bodies, which arranged one of the London Olympics opening ceremony events, brought its show Weighting to the festival, featuring disabled and non-disabled performers challenging gravity in a spectacular display.
