Crash victim named as former pub landlord

A man who died in a tragic crash has been named as Brian Carroll - a former pub landlord in Kirkham and Newton.

Mr Carroll was killed when the Kia Picanto he was driving collided with a Honda Civic on the A583 near Kirkham.

His family today paid tribute to a ‘loving father and grandfather.

In a statement they said: “The family of Brian Carroll would like to express their grief at the loss of a loving father and grandfather who died in a road traffic collision on Blackpool Road, Kirkham yesterday .

“Brian was well known locally as he was the previous landlord of both The Top House in Kirkham and The Highgate in Newton.

“He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and Brian’s family would like to pass on their thanks to friends and neighbours for their support at this difficult time.”

The road was closed for nearly six hours while investigation work took place.

Officers are still appealing for witnesses to the accident, which happened at around 9.40am on Monday to come forward.

Sergeant Adam Dawson of the Road Policing Unit said : “There has been a fantastic response from the public as a result of yesterday’s appeal for witnesses.

“Can I urge anyone with information who has not been in contact to please call the enquiry team on 101 quoting 0334 of June 20 2016.”
