Police, firefighters and ambulance crews were called to a collision in St Annes which left a woman with neck and spinal injuries.
The incident happened around 11.30am at the junction of Heyhouses Lane and St Annes Road East, when a black Fiat Punto and white Kia collided.
The rear of the Punto had to be removed to allow a woman, in her 30s, to be safely removed and taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment.
South Shore station manager Michael Duffell said: “The woman was not trapped but she had suffered some neck and spinal injuries and was confined to the car.
“We managed to take her out of the rear of the car, while working with paramedics.”
A spokesman for Lancashire police said one lane of the road was closed for more than an hour, but has since reopened.
