Firefighters tackle sauna blaze at St Annes hotel

Crews were called out to an early morning fire in the gym of a St Anne's hotel, say fire services.

Firefighters attended the incident at the Dalmeny Hotel at around 7am on March 20 after the insulation of a sauna caught fire.

Crew Manager Gerard Burke said: "Two fire engines from St Annes were called to a small fire at a property on South Promenade. Firefighters used two breathing apparatus sets, one hose reel and tools to extinguish the fire.

"The fire was dealt with very quickly and no evacuation of the hotel was necessary as the gym is isolated from the hotel.

"The fire caused significant damage to the sauna but thankfully, nobody was injured during the fire."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
