Lifeboat scrambled to emergency on river
Lytham's lifeboat crew was called into action when a narrowboat ran aground.
The inshore lifeboat was launched at around 2.15pm today when the boat, making its way from the River Douglas into the Ribble Estuary, got into difficulty.
The 57ft boat was well aground when the crew arrived at the scene.
RNLI volunteers carried out a full inspection of the craft and determined there was no damage.
The owner of the narrowboat was judged to be in no danger.
The lifeboat is now heading back to Lytham and the narrowboat is expected to be refloated on tonight’s high tide and anchored in the river.
