Fans of footballer Steven Gerrard did a double take when his waxwork figure was taken on a tour of Liverpool ahead of his final home game for the club.
The star is leaving the Reds for LA Galaxy this summer but his likeness will still be on display at Madame Tussauds in Blackpool.
The tour took Steven’s figure back to his roots at Anfield Stadium, where he has played since 1998, as well as on a ferry across the Mersey, and to the Liver Buildings.
Matthew Titherington, general manager at Madame Tussauds Blackpool, said: “It will be sad to see Steven head to America, he is a true sporting legend, standing pride of place in our attraction.
“We wish him all the best at LA Galaxy. He will always be a well loved part of our attraction.”
The figure of Steven Gerrard is included in Madame Tussauds ‘Locker Room’, alongside other footballing greats including Blackpool’s own Stanley Matthews, as well as David Beckham, Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer.
Tomorrow’s tie against Crystal Palace will be Gerrard’s last home tie for the club with tickets being sold for as much as £1,300.
