VIDEO: Watch as a group dressed as ORANGE CONES halts traffic - including buses - in Blackpool town centre

A group dressed as orange cones stopped traffic in Blackpool town centre by dancing in the road on one of the busiest weekends of the year - as well as one of the hottest.

It isn't known where the gang hails from, but many of those watching on - some taking pictures and videos - were wearing Young Farmers' Convention-related t-shirts.

Said to have been filmed at around 7.30pm yesterday, the video clip sent to The Gazette shows a group of people walking in front of traffic in Market Street, waving their arms as taxis and other motorists swerve around them.

At one point, one man pretends to have been hit, waving his arms as a crowd gathers and a bus sounds its horn.

"It's a complete joke," one woman said.

The convention, held elsewhere last year, contributes around £4.3m to the local economy, the National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs said in a tweet.

In another, it said young farmers had given £3,250 for the North West Air Ambulance charity, while more than 100 young farmers raised £50,000 for charities by cycling, walking, and driving vintage tractors to the convention.

Speaking to The Gazette last week, leader of the opposition Tony Williams had urged the thousands of young people to be on their best behaviour in Blackpool.

He said: "Financially, it’s a good boost for the town, and the majority of these people do behave themselves, but one or two have rocked the boat for the rest of them."
