The TV comedy duo, seemingly loved by big kids as well as youngsters, met with hundreds of fans for a book signing organised by Kirkham bookshop Silverdell yesterday.

The pair visited Rossall School, Fleetwood, in the morning where they “raised the roof” of the hall before going to Accrington Academy and then on to Silverdell, on Poulton Street, Kirkham, for an after-school book signing and an ice cream each.

Event organiser and Silverdell owner Elaine Silverwood said: “It was an incredible day and a huge, huge success. They are an incredible pair, so giddy.”

Dick and Dom, or Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood, met with hundreds of fans and sold 600 of their books, Dick and Dom’s Big Fat and Very Silly Joke Book, and Dick and Dom’s Slightly Silly But Very Naughty Words.

Their visit was the first time the bookshop has had children’s authors in for a signing and saw more than 100 fans queueing to get in.

Ms Silverwood added: “The age range they appealed to was huge, from little ones up to sixth form and even the teachers. We’ve sold lots of books to lots of happy people.”
