The independent police watchdog is to manage an investigation into the conduct of Lancashire’s deputy Police and Crime Commissioner.

Ibrahim Master is being investigated over allegations of misconduct after a complaint was filed by Lancashire’s Chief Constable.

In its statement, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said: “An investigation into the deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for Lancashire, Ibrahim Master, is to be managed by the IPCC.

“The investigation, which will be carried out by Lancashire Constabulary under the direction and control of the IPCC, will examine allegations of harassment and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

“The Lancashire Police and Crime Panel made a referral about Mr Masters’ conduct to the IPCC following an incident at a house in Blackburn in August.

“The investigation will be overseen by IPCC Commissioner Derrick Campbell.”

Mr Master was questioned by police earlier this year but was not arrested.

He insists he is innocent of any wrongdoing and said he welcomes an open investigation.
