Wrestling fans are in for a treat with the promise of the all action sport making a comeback to Lytham.

Megaslam Wrestling is planning to stage four shows at Lowther Pavilion this year, with each one providing a family-friendly, two-hour bill of non-stop action, featuring exponents from home and abroad.

Stars such as The Warrior and Texas Tornado will feature at Lowther on February 7, April 12, July 31 and August 28.

Set to be staged in the round, and with tickets going on sale shortly, it will be the first time wrestling has featured at the venue for around a decade.

The Pavilion’s manager Roger McCann (pictured right) said: “When I arrived at the Lowther, I said I wanted it to play a central role in community life, and when Megaslam Wrestling approached me I realised that this very popular family entertainment had not been in the Lowther for a long time.

“I’ve never been to a wrestling evening, so I’m not sure what to expect, but everyone tells me it’s hugely enjoyable.”

Megaslam Wrestling owner Brad Taylor said: “We tour the UK each year with this show, and new destinations are always exciting.

“Megaslam Wrestling champion Terry Isit will be defending the prestigious prize against James Mason, a star who has appeared for the almighty WWE in the USA and is regarded as this country’s finest wrestler, while Paul Malen, known as The Warrior, will compete against Texas Tornado.

“There will be a supporting bill of three other bouts, and we will be bringing the full team.

“We want to make the town somewhat of a hotbed, and bring the glory days of wrestling back to Lowther Pavilion.

“I guarantee the best night out you’ve ever had. You can bring everyone in the family – we have something that will appeal to everyone’s taste.”
