Young soldiers pledge allegiance to the Queen

Some 21 British Army apprentices pledged their allegiance to the Queen at Blackpool Town Hall recently.

The young squaddies, watched on by their friends and families, took the oath before heading off to basic training.

The majority will go to the specialist Army Foundation College in Harrogate to learn their new trades.

Major Marc Steventon, who carried out the ceremony said: “With the Army being one of the top apprenticeship providers in the UK with more than 7,000 apprentices, the Army has a lot to offer.”
