Turkey's Transport Minister, Adil Karaismailoglu, has said that his country plans to resume flights with around 40 countries in June.

Mr Karaismailoglu confirmed Turkey has reached preliminary agreements for reciprocal air travel with 15 countries.

According to the Financial Times, Brits could be able to visit by the middle of July, and it's understood that government officials in various popular Brit holiday destinations hope for "air bridge" deals.

An air bridge is an agreement between the UK and another country, which will then let people travel freely between those two nations without having to go into quarantine when they arrive.

This would prevent tourists and those returning to Britain from having to isolate for 14 days when they enter the UK, which is a policy that has now come into force.

Turkish Airlines is now also offering daily flights between London’s Heathrow and Istanbul airport.

The Turkish Airlines flights depart Istanbul airport at 8.20am, arriving into Heathrow at 10.25pm, with the return leg leaving London at 12.50pm and landing back into Istanbul at 18.40pm.

Earlier this month, Turkish Airlines also published new health and safety guidelines in the light of the Covid-19 crisis. This includes contactless check-in and boarding, temperature checks and PPE for crew, and a hygiene kit being provided for passengers.
