AFC Fylde's players provided the right response

AFC Fylde boss Dave Challinor said Good Friday's win over FC Halifax Town was how to respond to a defeat.

Second-half goals from Jonny Smith and James Hardy were the perfect pick-me-up after last Saturday’s loss at Dagenham and Redbridge.

“The win wasn’t a vintage display, but it was a welcome three points,” Challinor said.

“It’s a crucial period over Easter, with games coming thick and fast, so to beat a side that are in a period of transition and have been in a good run of form is pleasing.”

“It’s vitally important you bounce back from a defeat, and after the defeat at Dagenham and Redbridge last time out, we knew we had to put in a good performance.”

“That’s one thing we are really good at it – bouncing back from a defeat. I think we’ve only had consecutive defeats once this season, so to win was really pleasing and it’ll give us great confidence ahead of the Barrow match on Easter Monday.”

“People will look at our fixtures over Easter and say ‘they’ve got Halifax at home and Barrow away so it should be an easy six points.’ That’s far from the case.”
