Town flew out to their training camp at Obertraun near Salzburg on Saturday and are already hard at work - training up to three times a day in preparation for life in League One.

And boss Alexander warned his players the European adventure was definitely not a holiday.

He said: “What it does is gives the lads time with each other 24/7

“You really get to know each other.

“We’ve got the majority of the squad here from last season, plus a few new lads.

“We can do three sessions a day, a good amount of work at a fantastic training facility.

“There’ll be no distractions, just hard work for seven days.”

Town play two fixtures this week, facing Russian top-flight side FC Terek Grozny on Wednesday before a game against Austrians FC Pinzgau Saalfelden on Friday.

Town’s Austrian fixtures proved a springboard for success last seasonand Alexander is hoping the same can happen this term too.

He said: “We’ve got two games while we are over there.

“Last year when we went it was a great success for us.

“Hopefully it will have the same impact for us this time around.”
