Blackpool manager Gary Bowyer is encouraged by his sides first month

Blackpool’s opening month back in League One has brought two victories and a draw from their opening four matches.

They will be going for three straight home league wins today on the back of their victories against MK Dons and Oldham Athletic.

“We’ve done alright; it’s been a tough month,” Bowyer said when reflecting on Blackpool’s August.

“The four (league) fixtures we had weren’t easy fixtures. We can’t pat ourselves on the back and think that’s it because there’s a hell of a long way to go.”

What has been particularly notable about the Seasiders’ performances so far is their commitment to passing, attacking football as well as the relative youthfulness of their squad.

However, as the manager admitted, a good style of football combined with a lack of senior experience will have its up and downs.

“Last week’s starting line-up had two 19-year-olds, two 20-year-olds and a 21-year-old,” Bowyer said.

“We know that inexperience might catch up with a couple of them down the line but we’re working with them to prevent that.

“I’ve enjoyed watching the team play; they are trying to do the right things.

“We know we will lose some games but, if we lose doing the right things, there will be no complaints from me.”
