Matthew Pennington scored the decisive goal in the second half to give the Seasiders an important three points, but they could’ve already been ahead before that point- with just millimetres denying another member of the back three.

Ahead of the half hour mark, Marvin Ekpiteta saw a shot hit the crossbar and bounce down, with the officials adjudging the ball to have not fully crossed the line.

Discussing this incident, Blackpool boss Neil Critchley said: “We thought it was in, when you slow it down it looks over the line. It was an unbelievable save, I know Louie Moulden from Liverpool- he’s a fantastic young keeper, but the players were adamant it had gone over the line, you could see that from their reactions, they were convinced.

"For the actual goal there were a few going in for it, which is good to see. You’ve got to be clinical and ruthless in both penalty boxes and I think we were in that moment attacking. We threw our bodies in there to make sure it goes in, but we also had to defend some corners and long throw-ins. Other than one shot at Grimmy (Dan Grimshaw); we were comfortable.”
