"He’s improved and hopefully he’ll keep improving to take the pitch against Peterborough on Saturday- because I’m sure he’ll want to play in that game.

"We’ll just give him as much time as possible.

"He’s improved from Saturday but hasn’t trained yet, so we’ll have to look at that.

"It’s one of those things that can clear up quite quickly, so fingers crossed it does, because it can also linger.

James Husband also missed the win against the Robins, but is set to be back for the Peterborough game.

"I would hope he’d be back on Saturday,” Critchley added.

"We made five changes against Cheltenham.

"Dom (Thompson) played well at Charlton and deserved another chance.

"Shayne (Lavery) looked sharp, and Kaddy (Karamoko Dembele) is similar. Albie (Morgan) did well when he came on at the weekend.

"And then there’s Callum (Connolly)- he’s a proven player at this level and the one above. He was captain tonight and led the team well.

"Managing your squad during a busy schedule is really important.”
