That’s according to goalkeeper Chris Maxwell, who is in confident mood ahead of Blackpool’s 2020/21 curtain-raiser.

Maxwell said: “You could say it might work in our favour but I’m not sure how it will work.
“Initially, when the games were behind closed doors it did feel a bit different and it might have been a shock to the system. But now we’re all used to it after a lengthy pre-season.

“We’ve got a culture at this club that it doesn’t matter who we play, what the competition is or where we play, we always want to win the game.
“We went to Anfield and played against Liverpool, and you could sense among the group that we wanted to stake a claim.
“That’s a true reflection of the environment we have here and how we want to move forward.”

Since then, the Seasiders have enjoyed a strong pre-season, winning three of their six friendlies and drawing with Premier League side Everton.
Their two defeats saw a weakened side go down 3-1 to Blackburn Rovers before a host of half-time changes resulted in a 7-2 loss to Premier League champions Liverpool at Anfield, after Pool had led 2-1.
Maxwell added: “It’s been quite a while since we’ve talked about a league game, so it’s great to get going.

“There’s plenty for us to work on but lots of positives to come from such a short spell as well.”
