Neil Critchley admits out-of-favour Blackpool midfielder Jamie Devitt has a few weeks to 'sort out his situation'

The 30-year-old, who continues to be linked with a move away from Bloomfield Road, was not involved for the Seasiders during Saturday’s Carabao Cup defeat to Stoke City.

Further speculation was also fuelled last week when the midfielder wasn’t given a squad number, the only Blackpool player not to be given one.

Clubs in the EFL have until October 16 to complete their transfer deals and Pool will be hoping to move on the midfielder to free up space - and his wage - to bring in further reinforcements.

The former Carlisle United man has been linked with a move back to Brunton Park, while Ian Evatt’s Bolton Wanderers and fellow League Two newcomers Tranmere Rovers have also been mentioned alongside his name.

“Jamie knows the situation, he’s been spoken to about it,” Critchley told The Gazette.

“He has a few weeks to sort out that situation, so we will wait and remain patient and see what happens.”

Devitt has yet to make a single appearance for the Seasiders after making the move to Bloomfield Road from Carlisle last summer.

Originally signed under the interim board when Terry McPhillips was manager, Devitt found himself out of the first-team picture when Simon Grayson took charge under Simon Sadler’s new ownership.

The attacking midfielder was sent out on loan to Bradford City, yet he made just six appearances at Valley Parade in what was an injury-hit campaign.

One player who has recently departed is striker Adi Yussuf, who completed a season-long loan move to National League side Wrexham.

“It will be good for him to get out and get some game time,” Critchley said.

“He had a bit of a frustrating time last season and it’s important he carries on getting games, so he’s gone to a good club.

“Hopefully he will be towards the top end of the division and he can go there and play games and play in a position that is going to suit him.

“Hopefully he can score some goals and have a good season for Wrexham.”
