Appearing recently on the EFL’s official podcast, Grayson was asked if he has a burning desire to return to management.

“I don’t know,” was his response. “When you get to 50 you think to yourself, ‘Do you want the pressure of management again?’

“On the other side of that, you’re thinking you probably do because it’s all you’ve ever known and you do miss the buzz of being on the training ground with the players, matchday situations, the highs and lows.

“The experiences I’ve had over the last few years show how it’s changed dramatically in terms of social media, the pressure and the timespan you’re given – or not given – and the instant results people are wanting.

“It puts extra pressure on everybody connected with the football industry.

“I’ve had a good hit at it, but in terms of what will happen in the future we will see what happens.”
