Blackpool full-back Turton says long-range radar no fluke

Turton netted in the Seasiders’ 3-3 draw with Doncaster last month and, after back-to-back 3-1 wins over Oxford and Plymouth, Blackpool head to Bristol Rovers full of confidence.

And though the goals are flowing from outside the box, the right-back says the Seasiders still need to be clinical from close range.

Turton says Pool’s players will be getting their long-range radars tuned in once again on the training pitch.

He said: “The lads practice them on a Friday and have a bit of competition and that.

“The lads can all hit a ball, so it is good they are all going in!

“We’ve been having a lot of chances in and around the box too; we have got to make sure we are putting them in and being ruthless against teams.

“A lot of the games we have played we could have scored a lot more goals – like the ones in the box – so that is where we can pick up easier goals.”

Turton was one of several new players to arrive at Bloomfield Road after joining on a free transfer from Crewe Alexandra.

Despite the mass influx he is not surprised they have gelled as they are unbeaten in seven and have a 17-point tally from eight league games.

Turton said: “It has been great, we have had a really good start.

“We’ve been playing well as a team, let’s hope we can carry it on.

“They are a good bunch of lads as well and I feel you can see on the pitch how we are together.”
