Coasters wait for all-clear on transfers

The Coasters’ boss has put in the statutory paperwork of seven days’ notice to indicate his strong interest in three un-named players, and he is optimistic that he will be in a position to bring in at least two newcomers.

All three are forward players, and Challinor has made separate inquiries about a couple of others.

Challinor, speaking before Saturday’s visit to to Curzon Ashton in the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy, the Coasters’ boss said: “Nothing will happen before this weekend, but I am very optimistic that I will be able to announce something positive by the start of next week.

“I am looking at forward players and we have put seven days on all three.

“I am hoping to get at least two players in.”

Challinor continued: “We are missing Matty Blinkhorn (broken hand) and his injury could not have come at a worse time for us because he had been playing so well and gave us quality up front.

“He will be in a plaster cast for two more weeks.”

While the league campaign remains a priority for AFC Fylde, Challinor says he will treating Saturday’s Trophy fixture with respect by fielding a competitive side.

One player likely to be given another run is Jack Winslade, who scored on his debut on Tuesday night in the 2-0 win away to Mossley in the first round of the Doodson Sport League Cup.

Winslade joined the Coasters this week and Challinor plans to have a good look at the player.

Challinor said: “He came to us via an agent who I spoke to this week.

“He has played at Rhyl and with Vauxhall Motors and he has an ambition to play full-time.

“The cup games we have in the programme give us a chance to look at him.

“As well as scoring the goal, he did okay for us.

“He will stay with us as part of the squad - we are short of forward options at the moment and he showed some good signs in the win over Mossley.”
