The Addicks travel to Highbury this afternoon for the latest match in their quest for promotion back to the Championship.

Having been tipped for a swift return to the second tier after last season’s relegation, Charlton currently sit ninth but are just two points off the play-off places.

However, they make the journey today without Chuks Aneke who was sent off in their defeat to Gillingham a week ago.

While Grayson is aware of the threat posed by the visitors, he is keen for Town to impose themselves on their opponents, rather than the other way around.

He said: “They’re looking to get promotion, they’re a couple of places outside of the play-off positions at this moment in time.

“That’s the nature of our division, it’s really tight and anybody can beat anybody in any particular game.

“They have some good players. They will be without Aneke this weekend who I think is a good player and a handful.

“We’ll respect them, we’ll analyse them and we’ll respect the work that they’ve done but, ultimately, it’s about what we’re trying to do.

“We need to keep improving on what our performances have been like over the last three games since I’ve been at the football club.

“Nothing changes about who we’re playing, we analyse things and we try to leave an impact on the opposition.”

Three games in charge for Grayson have brought a win, a draw and a defeat, the latter against Plymouth Argyle this time last week.

Rather than dwell on that, he will be taking inspiration from Town’s last home display, the 3-1 win over Doncaster Rovers.

Grayson is keen to put the Plymouth loss to bed and move on.

He said: “When you lose a football match the next thing you want to do is get back to winning ways very quickly.

“That’s the mindset we’ve had all week and we’ve learned from the weekend’s defeat.

“There were some good things and some other things and we’ve got a strong test against a Charlton side who are one of the favourites for the division.

“We’re under no illusions that it’ll be an easy game, there never is in this division.

“Ultimately it’s a game that we want to build off our last home performance against Doncaster who were riding high in the division.”
