Town travel to MK Dons today on the back of a huge 2-1 comeback win over Bradford City that extended their unbeaten run to 15 league matches.

But despite playing down Town’s promotion ambitions Grant says there is a real belief in the squad at this moment in time.

He said: “I’m not going to get too carried away and say ‘we are going to do this, we are going to do that,’ because football can change so easily but there is a real togetherness; there is a great team spirit.

“There is no coincidence that we are working that hard and the results are showing behind the scenes.

“In the dressing room there is a real belief that we can achieve something. It is about the squad it is not about the 11 that play.

“I found myself on the bench (against Bradford. The manager told me why and you accept that because there is a lot of quality in the squad.”

And Grant says one of the key components to the mammoth unbeaten run has been Town’s superior fitness levels.

Town’s 81st minute winner against Bradford was their fourth late effort in their last six matches.

Grant said: “That is credit to the lads, the staff and the work we put in at the training ground, we really do have a right go.

“It is very competitive on the training ground I think that shows in games.

“We are a lot fitter than we have been over the last few years. I would back us against any team to be a lot fitter than them and I think that is shown with the amount of late goals.”
