Fylde coast amateur football review: Additions soar away at Sunday Alliance summit, Garstang get ready for cup final

AFC Additions made it 17 wins out of 17 at the top of the Bathroom Solutions Blackpool and Fylde Sunday Football Alliance.

A Jarred Bain hat-trick sent The Saddle on their way to a 7-3 win over Bloomfield Brewhouse as Will Robinson, Jordan Spedding, Jarrod Walsh and Danny Morris also scored. Craig Harding (2) and Anthony Buxton replied for Bloomfield, whose top-three hopes took a hit.

There was a brace each for Tarren Moxon and Josh Miller as Blackhurst Budd beat 21st Century Windows 4-2, despite starting the game with only seven players. Thomas Adams scored both for Windows.

Adam Parkinson grabbed a hat-trick in second-placed Broomheads Estate Agency’s 7-0 win over FC Rangers, with further goals from Tony Green, Darren Heaney, Dax hoogerwerf and Dean Hoogerwerf.

In midweek, Saddle had beaten 21st Century Windows 4-2 thanks to Jordan Wood, Will Robinson, Joe Booth and Danny Morris, while Shovels beat Appletree Finance 4-2 with a brace apiece from Stephen Whitehead and Aaron Fleming.

The only game to survive the weather in division one on Sunday saw Station Lytham beat Anchorsholme 6-0.

Anchorsholme only had nine men but made Station work hard in the first half.

Dominic Griffiths broke the deadlock shortly before the break and the second half became comfortable as the visitors tired. Matty Parr and Jamie Abbey grabbed a brace each and Harry Greenwood scored the other as Station consolidated their top-four spot.

In midweek, Stephen Hughes had scored a brace and Sam Montgomery was also on target as Highfield Social edged out AFC Lane Ends Blackpool 3-2.

Sam Eyer scored all four as leaders E and P Publications edged closer to the title with a 4-2 win at Wesham.

In division two, there were goals for Taylor-James Clews (2), Chris Bardsley, Rory Monaghan and Liam Stephens as mid-table Boars Head beat Layton Seniors 5-3. Chris Whalley (2) and Alex Ryder replied. There were goals from Michael Morecombe (2), Stuart Allen, Jason Lee, Chris Danson, Neil Talbot, Stephen Collins, Lee Brown and Will McCoey in Kirkham Town’s 9-2 win over Marshall Court, for whom Jake Whitaker and Josh Wileman replied.

Goals by Alfie Tomlinson, Daniel Dean and Lee Coker weren’t enough for Highlands, who lost 6-3 to fifth-placed George.

During the week, Damian Clayson earned leaders Clifton Rangers a 1-1 draw with King Edward (Ryan Willetts), while second-placed McNaughtons slipped up 3-2 against George, whose goals came from Dale Williams, John Whittle and Matt Black.

Garstang reached the Richardson Cup final by beating Tempest United 3-2 on Saturday.

The West Lancashire League programme was virtually wiped out by the wet weather but superb work by the staff at Euxton Villa saw this semi-final survive a number of pitch inspections.

Manager Lee Baker saw his Garstang side go a goal down after just 12 seconds when the defence failed to clear. The ball fell favourably to Luke Skelly just outside the six-yard box and he scored.

Tempest made a number of blocks and interceptions to keep Garstang at bay but the equaliser duly arrived in the 25th minute.

Tom Entwistle hit a pinpoint ball onto the head of Alan Coar, who outjumped his marker to head across the keeper and into the net.

Jonny Hothersall then calmly rounded the keeper to sidefoot home and give Garstang a deserved 2-1 lead.

The Riversiders continued to attack and scored again when Graham made a tremendous run down the right, beating his marker and hitting a superb cross for Ric Coar to head home at the far post.

Garstang had chance after chance to extend their lead but some poor decision-making allowed Tempest back into the game.

They pulled one back when a free-kick was sent towards the Garstang goal and the ball deflected off Kieran O’Connor’s head and past Curwen.

Tempest threw everything at Garstang in the dying stages and there were a few close scares, but Garstang were able to close out the game.

Garstang can extend their lead at the top of the premier division to four points tonight with victory over bottom club Haslingden St Mary’s

Thornton Cleveleys rescued a point at home to Slyne With Hest , a result that leaves them in 12th place in the top flight.

Luke Noble netted the leveller with just one minute of normal time to play after the visitors had taken the lead courtesy of an own goal.
