AFC Fylde defender Danny Holmes is set to leave the Mill Farm club to link up with York City - and the Coasters want Blackpool's Macauley Wilson on loan from Blackpool to fill the gap.

Holmes, who had spells at Tranmere and Newport, was a non-contract player at Fylde, but he is keen on a move to the Vanarama National League side and it looks set to go through.

AFC Fylde manager Dave Challinor said: “Danny had been looking for a contract, but we have a wage structure at the club which we can’t break.

“We only want players who are fully committed the club and we move on.”

Fylde, who play Darlington in a top of the table clash on Saturday, are now keen on Wilson, who put on an assured display for Blackpool in the Checkatrade Trophy win over Evertono under-21 on Tuesday night when he made an impressive professional debut and earnd a man-of-the-match rating.

Wilson had a spell on loan at Bamber Bridge earlier in the campaign.
