Nick Haughton’s 33rd-minute goal put the Coasters on course for a National League double over the Harriers only for Morgan-Smith to score at the second attempt seven minutes from time.

Head coach Chris Beech made four changes to the side beaten 4-1 away to leaders Chesterfield on Saturday, with Bryce Hossanah, Josh Kay, Tom Walker and Danny Ormerod all coming into the starting line-up.

Coasters keeper Theo Richardson make an excellent save inside four minutes, tipping Reiss McNally’s header over the crossbar.

Christian Dibble was soon busy in the home goal too, pushing Haughton’s shot from distance around a post.

Fylde had two opportunities in quick succession as Sam Graham met Haughton’s free-kick but was denied at close-range by Dibble, then Ormerod’s effort was cleared by Caleb Richards.

Fylde took the lead from a sweeping attacking move, which was started by Ormerod before Haughton beat Dibble from Kay’s lay-off.

It almost got better for Fylde before half-time, when Haughton set Jon Ustabasi free behind the Harriers defence but he fired off-target.

Richardson made a brilliant save early in the second half, dropping down to his right to keep Jack Lambert’s powerful shot out of the bottom corner.

Fylde survived a scare when Jay Emmanual-Thomas thumped the post with a long-range attempt.

Good build-up play created another chance for the Coasters but substitute Danny Whitehead dragged his shot wide.

The hosts threatened again when Zak Brown’s dipping effort from Ashley Hemmings’ cross just cleared Richardson’s bar.

The equaliser came from another Hemmings cross. Morgan-Smith found space in the box and although Richardson saved his initial effort, the striker dispatched the follow-up.

Fylde are 14th ahead of Saturday’s home clash with a Wealdstone side three points and six places below them.
