His side secured their eighth win from their last nine games to climb up to fourth in the League Two table after seeing off their local neighbours at Kenilworth Road.

It also meant there was no Manager of the Month curse for Sarll, having been awarded the League Two gong for February last week.

He said: "I said that to (assistant manager) Glenn Roeder – but he said that (the curse) doesn't happen any more, that thought process has long gone.

There was no time for Sarll to dwell on his side's win as he instantly turned his focus to Tuesday night's game against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

He said: "What does this mean? It means I can sleep again tonight – I don't have to stay up all night watching the game over and over again and throwing things at the television screen. I can relax and concentrate on Blackpool.

"If they keep their standards high there's no reason we can't think about promotion, but my only thoughts at the moment are for Blackpool."
