The striker missed Monday’s trip to Doncaster with a hip injury picked up in the win against Crewe two weeks ago.

It had been feared the niggle could end Redshaw’s season, but boss Neil McDonald has revealed positive news about his front man.

“He’s been to see the specialist and it’s not as bad as we maybe first thought,” said McDonald.

“He’ll have to get through the pain threshold and we are hoping he’s available for Saturday.

“We’ll see how he is after a couple of days’ training, hopefully he’ll be fine.”

Blackpool welcome play-off chasing Southend to Bloomfield Road this afternoon looking to extend their three-game unbeaten run.

Phil Brown’s side lie six-points from the top six after a superb win against Sheffield United on Wednesday night.

And McDonald expects a side in full form.

He said: “They are a strong team and that’s why they are in a good league position.

“They’ve done extremely well since getting promoted last season and have an experienced manager.”
