Hooker Tom Burtonwood was expected to come into the Fylde side for tomorrow’s trip to Richmond, replacing the injured Phil Mills, who has ankle damage.

And there could even be a first appearance of the season for former skipper Sam Beaumont, a long-time absentee after an operation on his ankle.

If it is not considered too soon for him to play, Beaumont could be named on the replacements’ bench.

Back rower Beaumont’s planned comeback for the second team last weekend was scuppered when opponents Sale FC could not raise a team.

If Beaumont is not thought to be ready, Ralph Dowds is being considered for a replacements’ berth.

Fellow packman Simon Griffiths will also require a fitness test. Evan Stewart is unavailable, while Warren Spragg and Anthony Bingham swop places. Spragg comes in on the wing, with Bingham on the bench.

The size of the task for Fylde could hardly be greater as they go to Richmond’s Athletic Ground, bidding for their first ever league win there.

Fylde have lost all seven league matches at the London club, a run stretching back to 1991.

National League One leaders Richmond are in outstanding form, having won 10 of their last 11 fixtures.

Fylde (possible): Dorrington; Brennand, S Rawlings, Briers, Spragg; Johnson, Nicholls; Birchall, Burtonwood, Lewis, Griffiths, G Rawlings, Moon, Goodman, Fairbrother. Replacements: Lavelle, Arnold, Beaumont, Vernon, Bingham.
