Fylde player-coach Paul Arnold said: ""Matt has been a stand-out player for Lancashire the last few years and is a devastating ball carrier who wants to test himself at a higher level.

"He can play right across the back row & will be a real asset to the club."

Arnold added: "We have five excellent, established back rowers - Evan Stewart, David Fairbrother, Ben Vernon, Mark Goodman and Sam Beaumont.

But with 'Ev' and 'Fairy' not always available and 'Beaumers' recovering from injury then Matt Lamprey will provide us with other options."

Lamprey said: "I enjoy challenging myself against stronger sides and so when 'Arnie' offered me the chance to play back in National One, I was excited at the opportunity.

"I'm definitely looking forward to pre-season and the 2016-17 season and hopefully can bring something different to an already strong outfit."

Lamprey's day job is as a statistician and data/IT specialist who is based in the North West.
