The former Kirkham Grammar School player, now on the books of Aviva Premiership club Sale Sharks, takes the place of the experienced Greg Nicholls, who is unavailable.

Dever’s only previous match this season was in the 57-14 reverse at the hands of leaders Hartpury College late last month.

He teams up in a backline that sees the recall of another former Kirkham Grammar old boy, Connor Wilkinson.

Centre Wilkinson, who scored two tries in the win over Esher, missed the 39-37 win over Plymouth because they did not want to overload his rugby work-schedule, having played three matches in the space of six days before the visit of the West Country club.

Wilkinson replaces Sam Bedlow.

Props Adam Lewis and Simon Griffiths are still absentees up front.

Jonny Wild, who came on late as a replacement in the win over Plymouth, is given a start.

Second rower Tom Poole makes his 100th league appearance for Coventry.

He is in a side showing eight changes and one positional switch from the XV who lost to Esher.

Fylde: Dorrington; Bingham, Briers, Wilkinson, Brennand; Smith, Dever; Pope, Burtonwood, Wild, Arnold, Nott, Turley, Vernon, Fairbrother. Replacements: Simpson, Maher, Gore, Lamprey, Armstrong.
