Concert organisers said they had hoped to go ahead with the event as scheduled but had to pull the plug due to government restrictions regarding social distancing and live performances still in place.

The first ever Lytham Proms at Lytham Hall would have seen 100 per cent of ticket sales gifted to the historic venue with live music promoters Cuffe and Taylor underwriting the full cost.

Ticket holders have been advised they can hold on to their tickets until next year.

A spokesperson added: "We would ask people to do this to maintain their support for Lytham Hall. Anyone who is unable to attend next year’s Lytham Proms can, if they wish, elect to donate the money from their ticket refund to Lytham Hall’s restoration fund.

"We will be writing to all ticket holders in due course, so please do bear with us."

Speaking in April, Hall manager Peter Anthony had said Cuffe and Taylor had been in regular contact and added his thanks for their support and generosity.

He said: "Their ring-fenced funds from the Proms will be vital in helping us continue the great work here.”

Priority projects at the Hall include further painting inside and out as well as restoration of the grounds, garden and drive.
