Hearthrob David Essex tops bill at Blackpool Opera House show

Chart-topping singer star and acclaimed actor David Essex will be performing his pop hits as well as songs from the musicals at Blackpool Opera House in November.

David will be appearing at the venue on Saturday, November 26, at 7pm as part of his 21-date 2016 British tour.

Essex was brought up in East London, the son of a travelling family.

As a keen young footballer, he was a member of West Ham Juniors and dreamed of one day being a professional player, but by his teens he had been bitten by the music bug and was playing with bands around London and Essex.

He released his first single And The Tears Came Tumbling Down in 1965.

Essex toured throughout the rest of the decade, releasing seven more singles, but it was the 70s which saw his career blossom both on stage and screen.‘

In 1971 he took the lead role in Godspell before starring in the film That’ll Be the Dayin 1973.

At the same time his single Rock On went on to sell more than a million copies sealing his position as a household name.
