Which is great news for those who caught Left Coast’s SpareParts parade and other innovative art/performance elements in the colourful spectacle which has become the country’s foremost arts-related transport festival.

It’s now so talked about that organisers could put the winning format on the road to help other transport festival move up a gear and give them greater appeal across all generations. Festival operations director Dave Carlos confirms the team will be involved in talks with other towns with regard to tours taking in their events. Left Coast/ SpareParts, Wyre Council, local businesses - and the Arts Council - have helped steer the festival in a very different yet transport related direction in the last three years from a standing start, art wise. The programme also involved countless community groups and schools in the parade and other projects. One big hit was the poetry takeaway featuring a burger van containing touring poets who turned locals’ stories into poems to take away - in burger cartons!
