Cabaret night to cast sunshine over South Shore

A new cabaret night launches with '˜local celebrity poets', stand-up comedy, music and drama tomorrow.

Scratch South Shore is produced by The Electric Sunshine Project (TESP), aiming to give performers an outlet for new works and a way to reach new audiences.

It is hoped the showcase, at The Royal Oak, Waterloo Road, will become a monthly event.

TESP director Melanie Whitehead (pictured) said: “Each month, Scratch South Shore will unite the brilliant, the brave and sometimes the blatantly bizarre in this unlikely setting, in the hope to offer locals a great night out.

“We hope to offer something new and interesting; something that’s a bit different from other nights in Blackpool.

“You may not enjoy every single act, but there will definitely be something in the evening that will make you laugh, think or touch you in some way.”

Tomorrow’s poets are Stephen Stroud, Ashley Lister and Steve Rowland, with comedy from the North West Comedy Collective’s Adam Blaize, Adam Staunton, Marvyn Dickinson and Alana Jade, singer/musician Claire Eastwood and actor/writer duo Rachel Dealtry and Aimee Berwick.

The show starts at 7pm. Entry costs £3.
