Comedy fans in Blackpool can come face to face with one of their heroes next year at a Promenade attraction.
As his UK arena tour continues, Madame Tussauds Blackpool has confirmed John Bishop is the next British comedian to be honoured with his own wax figure.
The Liverpudlian funny man is set to be captured smiling in his trademark casual on-stage pose, and will take up residence by the sea at Madame Tussauds Blackpool.
He’ll be in the company of current British comedic favourites such as Alan Carr and Russell Brand.
Work on the figure got under way at the weekend as John had a sitting with a team of Madame Tussauds artists and sculptors.
Thousands of measurements were taken to ensure they get the perfect likeness.
It will take specialists several months to painstakingly mould, sculpt and finish John’s wax double.
The figure will be dressed in a suit donated by John, one that he wore during his last UK tour.
John joked recently during his show that he was in the kitchen with this wife when he got the phone call from Madame Tussauds Blackpool.
John said: “I couldn’t believe it when I got the call asking if I wanted to be immortalised in wax, I thought one John Bishop would have been enough for the public!
“It’s a real honour though; even The Queen has been measured up.
“I’m just hoping now they capture me in the right light!”
Matthew Titherington, General Manager at Madame Tussauds Blackpool, added: “There’s been an overwhelming demand for a wax figure of John from the general public.
“He’s charmed his way into the hearts of the nation through his unique storytelling of day-to-day life at gigs, TV appearances and charity work.
“We can’t wait to unveil his new figure as he’ll take up residence next year.
“We know he’ll be popular with our visitors.”
Earlier this year Tussauds introduced other favourites Mo Farrar and Gok Wan.
